The Kingston Canadian Film Festival is pleased to announce Amal (dir. Richie Metha)as the winner of the KEDCO People’s Choice Award. The award concludes a successful eighth annual event that saw nearly 5,000 attendees at 33 screenings, two receptions, three workshops, one seminar and a high school outreach program.
The KEDCO People’s Choice Award is determined through an audience poll at the end of each screening during the festival. Amal won the award with an average audience rating of 3.86 out of a possible 4.00; both screenings of the film sold out. The free closing screening of Shake Hands with the Devil (dir. Roger Spottiswoode) was a close second. “We heard nothing but positive, glowing comments about this film from our audience, so we weren’t surprised to see it win” says Festival Director, Alison Migneault.
