Synopsis
From internationally renowned writer-director Deepa Mehta, who brought audiences the Oscar-nominated smash hit Water, comes a powerful and richly imagined new drama. When Chand (Bollywood star Preity Zinta) is sent from India to Canada for an arranged marriage with Rocky (intense newcomer Vansh Bhardwaj), she's understandably nervous yet hopeful. But there's something very wrong with her new family and Rocky's sudden eruptions of anger are unfortunately only the beginning. Surprising but deeply felt bursts of magic realism enhance this unflinching yet compassionate story about a young woman struggling with a life she never asked for and consequences she could never expect.
