Synopsis

Nominated for five Genie Awards, including Best Picture, Stephane Lafleur’s debut feature is a darkly comic look at the poignant, strange, and revelatory things people do to cure their loneliness. A man abruptly gets off a bus and walks into the woods and the consequences of his decision ricochet through the lives of four interconnected strangers — his confused and angry wife, a frustrated salesman, a vulnerable hotel desk-clerk, a poor dental patient. They’re all yearning for human connection and they all have peculiar ways of finding or avoiding it. Continental, Un Film Sans Fusil is winner of the Best First Feature at the Toronto International Film Festival.
