Films

The 2008 event promises the inclusion of even more top films and filmmakers from across the country as the Festival continues to grow. "The Festival always seeks to program a diverse selection of the year's best films, including films that may not have played elsewhere or films that do not have a traditional distribution deal in place" explains Festival Director, Alison Migneault.

Programming Director Elan Mastai adds, “The festival may only run for five days of the year, but the other 360 days are spent putting together the program. We watch films, keep in touch with filmmakers, and attend other festivals to make sure we're bringing Kingston the very best of Canadian cinema every year. This year we forged further ties with other festivals, including the Rendez-Vous du Cinema Quebecois and the Hot Docs International Documentary Festival, as well as keeping our close connection with the Toronto International Film Festival.”

“Everyone's taste in films is different. A programmer's job is to evaluate not just the kind of films he or she personally likes, but how a given film might appeal to different audiences. We aim to offer Kingston a wide variety of cinematic experiences.”
