Movies so seldom make room for big thoughts. That's why this documentary by Astra Taylor is unusually stimulating. For this cinematic primer on modern philosophy, Taylor invited such academic all-stars as Cornel West, Peter Singer, Martha Nussbaum, Judith Butler, Avital Ronell, and Slavoj Zizek (also the subject of Taylor's 2005 doc Zizek!) to offer their insights on a wide array of topics during a scenic series of Socratic walk-and-talks. Whether the subject is the wealthy's moral obligation toward the poor, the rights of the disabled or the power of the blues, the big thoughts from Examined Life's big thinkers are worthy of your consideration.
